Coronavirus Data – Comparing Nevada before & after the vaccines

There are so many articles and opinions being shared across the web and social media in regards to vaccines and the coronavirus.

We wanted to take opinion out of it, and just look at what the data says about how well the vaccines are performing.

As of 11/24/2021, the number of people vaccinated with at least one dose is 2,030,864, which is 69.48% of Nevada’s population.

Below is the data from the NV Health Response website, comparing three important metrics:

  • Deaths
  • Infection rates
  • Hospitalizations

October 2020 – 183 deaths
October 2021 – 427 deaths

Deaths increased by 133%

September 2020 – 248 deaths
September 2021 – 611 deaths

Deaths increased 146%

August 2020 – 502 deaths
August 2021 – 641 deaths

Deaths increased by 28%

Hospitalizations – Daily Average

October 2020 – 404 day average
October 2021 – 656 day average

62% increase in hospitalizations

Sept 2020 – 393 day average
Sept 2021 – 961 day average

245% increase in hospitalizations

August 2020 – 726 day average
August 2021 – 1,152 day average

58% increase in hospitalizations

Infection Rates – Daily average for the month

October 2021 – 7.63%
October 2020 – 7.7%

1% infection rate decrease

Sept 2021 – 10.2%
Sep 2020 – 7.67%

32% infection rate increase

August 2021 – 13.6%
August 2020 – 12.99%

4% infection rate increase
